What seemed like a foregone conclusion in Kyle Larson taking his second race of the year in the #5 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet quickly turned into a shocking upset. Ryan Blaney ran down Kyle Larson in Stage 3 of the Folds of Honor QuickTrip 500 to take home the checkered flag and the win.
This mark’s Blaney’s first win since last June at Talladega and his first on a non-superspeedway.
Larson took home second, earning his fifth Top 5 in 6 races. Meanwhile, hometown favorite and defending Cup Series Champion Chase Elliott had an engine problem after a rough first two stages. Elliott finished well off the lead lap, continuing his early season mini-slump.
That’s all from Atlanta. Thanks for following along with us at the track here and on social media. More updates to come tonight and tomorrow.
